Authors Discuss Homelessness & Poverty
Sept. 15, 7-8:30 pm – FREE
East Side Neighborhood Services
1700 2nd St. NE, Minneapolis
My Very Own Bed and our partner East Side Neighborhood Services will present a talk by Diane Nilan and Pat LaMarche, authors of books about homelessness and housing insecurity, as part of their 10-state "Banned Book Tour."
Known as "The Babes of Wrath," Nilan and LaMarche are two grassroots activists with decades of experience fighting homelessness and poverty on the front lines. Each have new, must-read books about children and adults experiencing homelessness. LaMarche also writes children’s books, including her Priscilla series, at least one of which was recently banned by her local library – thus the title of their tour.

Pat LaMarche’s book, Still Left Out in America: The State of Homelessness in the United States, and Diane Nilan’s book, Dismazed and Driven – My Look at Family Homelessness in America, share insights about their personal experiences and issues often glossed over in media coverage and public policy.
The event is free and open to the public and is appropriate for anyone interested in learning or contributing to the conversation. Please share the Facebook event and help us spread the word about this Minnesota visit.
